Some Famous Conspiracy Theories

Paul is Dead

“Paul is dead” is a conspiracy theory suggesting that Paul McCartney from the rock band Beatles, died in 1966 and was secretly replaced by a look-alike.

The rumor was that Paul McCartney had been killed in a car crash in London.

In September 1969, American college students published articles saying that they found clues in the Beatles’ lyrics and artwork that prove McCartney’s death. Within a few weeks the conspiracy had become an international phenomenon.

Hundreds of clues to McCartney’s death were reported by fans and followers. One example is the suggestion that the words spoken by McCartney’s band-mate John Lennon in the end of the song “Strawberry Fields Forever” are “I buried Paul”

Paul explained in an interview that the rumor probably started because he wasn’t in the spotlight as much as usual. He said “I am happy to be with my family and I will work when I work.”

First Man on the Moon

In July of 1969, Neil Armstrong made history as the first man to set foot on the moon. The moon landing conspiracy talks about how NASA faked the first landing. Why would NASA stage a moon landing? Well, according to those who believe the conspiracy theory, the U.S. government was competing with the Soviet Union (which is now Russia) for technological superiority. The believers claim that NASA misled the public on purpose into believing that the landings happened, by destroying evidence including photos, tapes, radio and TV transmissions, and even creating moon rock samples.

The Death of Princess Diana

After marrying Prince Charles in 1981, Princess Diana became a very admired part of the Royal Family. However, her marriage to Charles did not last long and the couple divorced in 1996. Nearly two years later, Diana was killed in a car accident. Diana was in the limousine with her boyfriend, Dodi Al Fayed, the son of an Egyptian billionaire. People believe that the Royal Family was responsible for Diana’s tragic death. They think that the Royal Family did not want Diana marrying a man who was Muslim and so they had a member of MI6 (Secret Services) cause the crash.

Global Warming

The global warming conspiracy claims that climate change isn’t really happening and is the U.S. government’s attempt at making billions of dollars. Critics of global warming believe the issue isn’t about the environment, but about politics and staying in political control. Supposedly, scientists, celebrities, citizens, and government officials who believe in Global warming want to make the rich richer and more powerful, while controlling people’s lives and how they spend their money. Many people see global warming as the government’s plan to make citizens spend more of their money on green solutions (like windmills and other types of renewable energy sources). According to the theory, believers state that chemicals like CO2 aren’t harmful or increasing. Global warming critics also reject the idea that if the climate really is changing (temperatures rising, glaciers melting, more natural disasters occurring), then it’s a natural environmental process, not caused by humans.

New World Order

New World Order believers say that a secret group is planning to take over the world and are seeking global power (controlling everything from money, government, religion, and culture). Many politicians and former presidents have been accused of being a part of the New World Order, as well as many successful families such as the Rothchilds.  Conspiracy theorists say that the secret group is all about taking away power from everyone on Earth and creating a dictatorship, where no one would be able to have rights such as free speech and force people into slavery. Famous figures believed to be part of the New World Order are: Barack Obama, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Queen Elizabeth II, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, The Pope and more.
